How to Reset a Motion Sensor Light That’s Stuck

How to Reset a Motion Sensor Light That’s Stuck

Motion sensor lights are very effective in offering light and aesthetic appeal to different parts of your home, such as driveways, garages, and porches, etc. Not just that, but they also work wonderfully for security purposes.

But there are times when the light can get stuck. The first motion light troubleshooting trick is to reset it so that it can be unstuck again. But how do you go about it? If your electrician didn’t tell you how to do it during the electrical service, don’t worry, we will!

Why Is My Motion Sensor Light Stuck?

Before you dive headfirst into becoming an electrician, we suggest you try to figure out why it is stuck. Here are some common reasons for you to troubleshoot. Try to get these issues solved during the electrical service process by expert electricians such as those by Quick Spark.

  1. Setting: First off, try checking the settings before getting an electrician to come and work on electrical service. There are some manufacturers out there who set the light on auto ON mode. If that is so, you will have to turn the permanent ON mode off manually.
  1. Sensitivity Issues: Another common issue found during motion light troubleshooting is that of sensitivity. If this setting is set too high, the light will turn on even when the wind blows or dust comes on the sensor. However, it is advised to keep the sensitivity levels fairly high to ensure its security work. Just make sure there is no dirt or debris in the area where the light has been installed, and you’ll be good to go.

How to Reset Motion Sensor Light

1. Power Source

Here is the most common solution suggested by electricians. Head to the power source where the light is connected and unplug it. Wait for at least 10 seconds and plug it back into the power source. If you don’t wish to do this yourself, get an electrician from Quick Spark to attend to the electrical service of your lights.

2. Circuit Breaker

Another motion light troubleshooting trick is to head to the breaker. Here, you need to turn off the breaker circuit and wait a minimum of 60 seconds before starting it back again. Go back to your motion sensor light and check if it is properly functioning or not. The majority of the time, this should do the job.

If both of these solutions don’t work, call an expert electrician from Quick Spark to look at the fixture for you. They will be well-versed in the dynamics of electrical appliances and light installation, etc., they will be able to figure out the cause of the problem and fix it in no time.
